Google Meet’s online version now includes an auto-brightness feature to address poor lighting during video conversations. Users on Android and iOS devices can take advantage of the low-light mode, which was introduced earlier this year. When enabled, this feature automatically detects inadequate lighting conditions and enhances the brightness settings to enhance the visual quality of video chats.
Admin Control Free
Anyone using the Google Meet web version can activate the auto-brightness feature, and there are no administrative controls over it. It is accessible to both PC users and iOS users accessing Google Meet for the web via their iPhones. Google Workspace users, as well as G Suite Basic and Business subscribers, can use this functionality. To activate it, go to the “More” section of Google Meet, select “Settings,” choose “Video,” and then enable the “Adjust video illumination” option.
Active Time
Once activated, Google Meet will automatically increase the brightness. If the video lighting adjustment feature is not enabled and users are underexposed, they will be prompted to activate it. However, it is important to note that this feature may slow down computers or laptops. Therefore, users have the option to deactivate it if they do not want their devices to slow down. The rollout of the video illumination adjustment feature has already begun and will eventually be available to all users.
Artificial Intelligence
Notably, Google Meet introduced its low-light mode with a similar purpose for its iOS and Android mobile applications last year. This mode uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically adjust the video brightness when users are in a dimly lit environment. Additionally, there is a noise cancellation feature to filter out background noise and ensure uninterrupted video calls.
