Early today, various online platforms like Slack, Asana, and the Epic Games Store encountered disruptions and delays due to issues with Amazon Web Services’ servers and infrastructure. Users faced difficulties with logging in, uploading and downloading files, and storing data, all stemming from an outage in Amazon Web Services.
Amazon Web Services’ official health tracker confirmed that the servers suffered a power outage in a specific data center, resulting in less severe impacts than previous incidents. Power has been restored to the affected data center, but Amazon warns that users may still experience some slowdowns for a few hours.
This marks the third occurrence this month where a power outage has affected one of AWS’ data centers, disrupting the services they provide to various websites. Previous incidents this month led to temporary outages on streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ as well as interruptions in wi-fi-connected security devices such as Ring cameras. The exact cause of these power outages remains unknown, as Amazon has not disclosed any details.
