Well-known musician Anderson .Paak, also known as Brandon Paak Anderson, has filed for divorce from his spouse Jaylyn Chang after 13 years of marriage. Citing “irreconcilable differences,” Paak is seeking to prevent the court from awarding partner support to either party, according to legal documents obtained by Us Weekly.
Paak and Chang are the parents of two sons, Soul Rasheed, 13, and Shine Tariq, 6, and Paak is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their children.
Although the date of their separation was not specified, the couple got married on November 23, 2010. Paak, who has been private about his personal life, did not confirm reports that he got married in 2011. This is Paak’s second marriage, as he was previously married at the age of 21 for two years.

In a July 2016 interview with The Breakfast Club, Paak referred to Chang as the “most important spouse.” He disclosed that they met at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he was recruited as a band member for a gospel class. Paak credits his dedication to music to his family, including his spouse and sons.
Chang, who moved from Korea with no knowledge of English, has been influential in Paak’s life, particularly in helping him reconnect with his Korean heritage. In an interview with Hypebeast in April 2023, Paak revealed that his marriage to Chang has deepened his understanding of Korean culture.
Describing his children as strongly identifying with their Korean heritage, Paak emphasized the importance of raising biracial children in a household that embraces and educates them about both their Korean and Black background.
Chang, a vocalist in a gospel rock band, has been a significant part of Paak’s life and the upbringing of their children. They have raised their sons in a multilingual environment where both Korean and English are spoken.
