The forthcoming docuseries tells the tale of a Pepsi enthusiast’s pursuit of a promotional jet.
During the mid-90s, Pepsi initiated the Pepsi Points promotion, allowing customers to collect labels from Pepsi products to exchange for various Pepsi-branded items. A memorable commercial suggested that accumulating 7 million points could lead to redeeming a Pepsi-branded Harrier jet. While intended as a joke, one individual was determined enough to actually amass 7 million points and persistently pursued Pepsi for the jet.

The docuseries “Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?” is set to premiere on Netflix, unveiling the story of John Leonard, a college student who exploited a loophole to amass 7 million Pepsi Points and claim the Harrier jet.
Director of the show, Andrew Renzi, described Leonard as having a Spielbergian quality in his youth, where he believed that anything was possible. Renzi initially planned to create a fictionalized version of the story but found that the real account from Leonard, now a park ranger, was more captivating.

Leonard reflected, “It was a long time ago. I just wanted to keep it as a funny memory from the past.” He reconsidered after the success of shows like Tiger King, prompting show creators to seek intriguing docuseries subjects. Renzi’s genuine approach stood out to Leonard amidst other insincere pitches. Leonard recalled a conversation with Todd Hoffman, highlighting the uniqueness of the story and the need for the right storyteller. Hoffman expressed his desire for this tale to be part of his legacy.
