The album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ presents eight special vinyl versions, all made from fully recycled materials such as ECO-MIX and BioVinyl.
Billie Eilish fans, get ready for something new! Billie Eilish is embarking on a more environmentally conscious journey than ever before.
On April 8, Billie Eilish announced the global release of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, set for May 17. Taking to her official Instagram, Billie shared her excitement, stating: “Feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. Rather than releasing singles, I want to share it all at once with you. Finneas and I are incredibly proud of this album, and we’re eager for you to hear it.”
Prior to unveiling Hit Me Hard And Soft, Billie raised concerns about vinyl production methods. Speaking with Billboard, she expressed frustration about artists releasing numerous vinyl editions solely to drive sales. She found this practice wasteful and aimed to shift focus.
In a statement on her website, Billie detailed that all vinyl versions of her album share the same tracklist and are produced using eco-friendly methods. The standard black variant consists of “100% recycled black vinyl,” while the seven colored options are made from “ECO-MIX or BioVinyl.”
For instance, BioVinyl reduces carbon emissions significantly compared to new vinyl production. The packaging for the vinyl variants is created from recycled paper/boards certified by FSC®, sourced from post-consumer waste and recycled pre-consumer fibers. The ink and varnish used are plant-based and water-based, respectively.
Additionally, instead of shrink-wrapping, the sleeves are entirely made from recycled and reusable materials. All final products are shipped in boxes composed of up to 93% recycled materials and 100% recyclable.
Fans can purchase ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’ in various colors including black, blue (exclusive), grey (Walmart), yellow (Target), green (Spotify), sea blue (Indie), red (Amazon), and white (Urban Outfitters).
