Charli XCX teasingly pointed out the similarities between ‘I Luv It’ and her song ‘I Got It’ online.
In response to criticisms that she imitated Charli XCX in her latest song ‘I Luv It’, Camila Cabello has spoken out, and Charli has also added her perspective.
In February, Camila Cabello revealed a new blonde look and teased her upcoming single ‘I Luv It’. The track, which deviates from her usual style, appears to be heavily influenced by hyperpop, leading many to draw comparisons with Charli XCX’s music. Some fans have even accused Camila of copying Charli.
Camila has now addressed these claims and firmly rejected any attempts to create a rivalry between her and Charli.
Charli’s feelings about the comparisons are still unclear. In March, Charli seemed to playfully poke fun at Camila by recreating a video of her dancing to ‘I Luv It’ in a car but instead dancing to her own song ‘I Got It’. Despite this, Camila shared Charli’s video on Twitter.
Charli also responded to Camila’s recent comments with a tweet saying: “i luv it i luv it i luv it i luv it!”
Interestingly, Camila and Charli have collaborated multiple times in the past. Charli co-wrote Camila’s 2018 single ‘Oh My God’ and the hit ‘Señorita’ with Shawn Mendes. They also joined Taylor Swift on her Reputation Stadium Tour and performed ‘Shake It Off’ together with Taylor during every show.
What do you think? Do you feel ‘I Luv It’ has a Charli XCX vibe?
