Celine Dion Fans Protest Exclusion from Rolling Stone List

Dion wasn’t included in the “200 Greatest Singers of All Time” list.

Last week, prominent music magazine Rolling Stone released a list article titled “The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.” The list highlighted many of the most prominent names in a variety of musical genres, including Elton John, Barry White, Freddie Mercury, Billie Eilish, and more. However, eagle-eyed readers noticed a distinct absence from the list: famous singer Celine Dion.

Dion’s most die-hard fans, all members of a Facebook group called The Red Heads, were not having it. This is why 15 of them all drove all the way down from Montreal, Canada to New York City to protest her exclusion from the list in front of Rolling Stone’s home office.

“The list is completely illegitimate,” Redheads founder Line Basbous, who helped organize the protest, said in a statement obtained by Variety. “We wanted to support her and make sure that Rolling Stone hears the voice of the fans. The list is ridiculous. No Madonna, no Celine. They’re clearly focused on American singers and we don’t understand.”

Fan Charles Lemay added that Dion has particular significance in Canada, where all of the protestors live. “In Quebec, it’s nonsense that she’s not on the list. She’s been in all our lives since the beginning.”

Rolling Stone has not commented on the matter as of writing.
