Chadwick Boseman, widely recognized for his role in Marvel’s Black Panther, tragically passed away in August 2020 from colorectal cancer at the age of 43. Despite his untimely death, his remarkable acting talent continues to be celebrated.
At the recent Golden Globe Awards, Boseman was posthumously awarded the Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He became only the second actor in Golden Globes history to receive such an honor, triumphing over other talented nominees like Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Riz Ahmed (The Sound of Metal), Gary Oldman (Mank), and Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian).

Boseman’s wife, Simone Ledward Boseman, accepted the award on his behalf, delivering a heartfelt speech in his memory. She expressed, “He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and sacrifices. He would say something beautiful, inspiring, amplifying that voice inside all of us that says, ‘You can,’ encouraging us to keep going, reminding us of our purpose in this moment in history.”
“I may not have his exact words, but we must cherish every moment to honor our loved ones. Thank you HFPA for this chance to do just that. And sweetheart, keep those moments coming. Thank you,” she concluded.
