The plaintiff has alleged that the use of breast meat in boneless wings amounts to deceptive advertising.
For as long as boneless chicken wings have been around, it has been widely known that they do not contain real chicken wings. Traditional chicken wings have bones, whereas boneless wings are typically made from slices of chicken breast shaped like wings for those who prefer boneless options. However, a customer at Buffalo Wild Wings is claiming this constitutes false advertising.
A resident of Chicago, Aimen Halim, has filed a lawsuit against the restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings, arguing that their boneless wings do not actually qualify as chicken wings, leading to false advertising of their products. The lawsuit states, “Unknown to the plaintiff and other consumers, the products are not wings at all, but instead, slices of chicken breast meat deep-fried to resemble wings. The products are more similar in composition to chicken nuggets rather than chicken wings.”
“This blatant case of false advertising should not be allowed, as consumers should be able to trust the literal meaning of a product’s name and receive what they expect,” the lawsuit further points out.

Buffalo Wild Wings responded to the accusation with a playful remark on Twitter. “It’s true,” their tweet says. “Our boneless wings are all white meat chicken. Our hamburgers have no ham. Our buffalo wings do not come from buffalos.”
Halim’s legal team is requesting a jury trial and unspecified damages. They are also encouraging others aggrieved by the naming of boneless wings to join the lawsuit.
