Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez faced unfair comparisons during their joint appearance in the movie Red, White and Royal Blue.
Nicholas Galitzine discussed the parallels drawn between himself and his fellow actor Taylor Zakhar Perez during their collaboration on the Prime Video film Red, White and Royal Blue. The movie portrays the love story between the offspring of the US President and a British royal, who must keep their romance under wraps.
In a recent interview with GQ about his new movie The Idea of You, where he stars alongside Anne Hathaway, Nicholas was asked about his charismatic appeal.
He reflected on the comparisons made with his RW&RB co-star Taylor during the conversation.
Nicholas also touched upon the challenge of being seen as a commodity rather than a respected performer, saying, “I value being recognized for my talent above all. While I don’t seek pity, it’s disheartening to be reduced to a mere product for sale in the industry.”
When asked whether he was referring to casting choices or audience reactions, Nicholas expressed concerns about both, stating, “Being judged solely on my appearance is a constant source of anxiety for me.”
Having portrayed various queer characters, the actor admitted hesitations about potentially intruding on LGBTQ+ spaces but emphasized that he sees his roles beyond their sexual orientation.
“Although I identify as a straight man, I have been honored to be a part of impactful LGBTQ+ stories. While I have had moments of uncertainty and guilt about representing these characters, I believe they are complex individuals with identities that go beyond their sexual orientation.”
