Conan O’Brien, the famous late-night talk show host, has bid farewell to his show on TBS after more than a decade on air, as announced the previous month. The final episode aired on Thursday night, during which O’Brien reflected on his 11-year journey.
“Try to do what you love with people you love, and if you can manage that, it’s the definition of heaven on Earth,” O’Brien shared.
The farewell episode included highlights from past shows, showcasing jokes and conversations with O’Brien and various celebrity guests. O’Brien was virtually joined by his good friend, Will Ferrell, who humorously extended best wishes for O’Brien’s future endeavors, including his upcoming show on HBO Max.
“People might say six episodes are not much, but you squeezed in enough entertainment for eight episodes,” Ferrell jokingly remarked.
As a nod to O’Brien’s time as a writer on The Simpsons, an animated version of O’Brien met Homer Simpson on stage, with Homer playing the role of an HR representative for TBS in an exit interview. When Homer didn’t recognize O’Brien, he reminded him that he is a talk show host.
“Wow, a dying breed,” Homer quipped. “There’s only like 800 of you left.”

Lastly, actor and musician Jack Black joined O’Brien on stage for some nostalgic moments, even though nursing a sprained ankle, he rose to sing a spontaneous tribute to O’Brien in the style of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”
O’Brien’s upcoming show, details of which are currently undisclosed, is set to start streaming on HBO Max sometime next year.
