Dylan Minnette, known for his role in 13 Reasons Why, has been absent from the acting scene since 2022.
Dylan Minnette has opened up about stepping back from his acting career to focus on making music with his band, Wallows.
Famed for his work as an actor, Dylan Minnette first made waves as a child star in hits like Lost, Scandal, and Grey’s Anatomy. His prominence grew with his portrayal of Clay Jensen in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, and he has since played key roles in films such as Don’t Breathe and Scream‘s fifth chapter.
At present, Dylan has decided to place his acting career on hold. His most recent acting role was Tyler Shultz in The Dropout back in 2020, after which he delved wholeheartedly into the world of music as the frontman of Wallows, releasing two albums so far.
Dylan said, “I’m committed to pushing Wallows and our musical journey as far as possible. I now have the opportunity to pour all my focus into this venture. Total dedication in time and effort is mandatory if we aim to be truly successful.”
He continued, “I’m letting my current inspirations and inclinations lead the way. I’m incredibly lucky to have this freedom. Things are falling into place wonderfully, and we’re savoring every moment of this process.”
About his acting career, Dylan playfully informed his team, “I joke with my agent and manager, saying, ‘Check back in with me in 2026!’”
Dylan had thought about returning to acting in 2023, but an actors’ strike at the time meant the chance did not come to fruition.
Dylan finished by saying, “Eventually, when Wallows has truly honored our commitments and it feels natural to take a break, that would seem like the ideal opportunity to rekindle my acting pathway.”
