Emma Stone brought humor to her backstage win at the Golden Globes by jokingly referring to her longtime friend Taylor Swift as an “asshole” in response to Swift’s enthusiastic support of Stone’s Best Actress win. The 35-year-old Stone clarified her playful comment by expressing her joy at having Swift there and highlighting their nearly two-decade-long friendship.

Swift, 34, attended the event with her friend Keleigh Teller, actively showing her support for Stone’s victory and joining in on a standing ovation at The Beverly Hilton. Although Swift was nominated for her Eras Tour concert film, Stone secured the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in Poor Things.

During the press room interviews, Stone light-heartedly acknowledged Swift’s support, adding a playful touch to the celebration. The response from the pop star, along with others like Jennifer Lawrence, demonstrated the camaraderie among industry peers.

Stone’s acceptance speech focused on gratitude and acknowledgment, giving a special mention to her husband, Dave McCary. She expressed her love for McCary and thanked him for his support. Having gotten married in September 2020, the couple welcomed their daughter Louise in March 2021.

Despite rumors suggesting a potential decline in her career, insiders have confirmed Stone’s commitment to acting. Even with a reduced workload after becoming a mother, Stone has no plans to retire from Hollywood. Sources emphasize that acting is central to her identity, and her husband, Dave McCary, fully supports her professional pursuits.
