Fortnite is one of the most prolific, popular, and profitable multiplayer games in the world, with a playerbase numbering in the multi-millions spanning a variety of ages and demographics. As the publisher of Fortnite, Epic Games has naturally attained a lot of sway in the video game industry, but with the uncertainty of the situation over in the Ukraine as Russia continues to invade, they’ve decided to use that sway in order to do some good.

Over the weekend, as the new season of Fortnite began, Epic Games announced that they would be donating all of their net proceeds from Fortnite, including cash shop purchases and Battle Passes, to Ukrainian relief efforts. The money is being sent to various aid groups and efforts, including Direct Relief, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Children’s Fund, and the World Food Programme.

After making this announcement on Sunday, Epic chimed in again this morning to announce that they have already raised over $36 million USD for charity through Fortnite purchases. New seasons in Fortnite often generate the most income for the game, short of holiday events, as they are when new and interesting content are added to the game’s various shops. Epic will continue to donate all of Fortnite’s proceeds until April 3.
