Frank Ocean, who was set to headline Weekend 2 of Coachella, has unfortunately had to pull out of the festival due to an injury. Reports indicate that Ocean sustained two fractures and a sprain in his left leg on festival grounds just before Weekend 1, forcing last-minute changes to his performance.
Despite his injury, Ocean delivered an impressive performance of 20 songs, including revamped versions of his popular tracks. The 35-year-old singer concluded his set with a moving cover of Aaliyah’s 1994 song “At Your Best (You Are Love),” leaving fans in awe.
Instead of Ocean, Blink-182 will now take the stage for the headlining slot on Sunday of Weekend 2. The pop-punk band, who reunited as a trio during Weekend 1, is expected to bring their electrifying energy to the Coachella stage.
Ocean’s representatives stated that he was determined to perform at Weekend 1 despite his injury, and the show was adapted within a tight 72-hour timeframe. However, Ocean’s doctors advised against his participation in Weekend 2.
This is not the first time Ocean has been unable to perform at Coachella. Originally slated to headline in 2020 before the pandemic, Ocean’s anticipated return to the festival in 2023 was already confirmed in August 2021.
While it’s disappointing when an artist has to withdraw from a much-anticipated event, fans can still expect an exciting show with Blink-182 at Coachella. Our best wishes go out to Frank Ocean for a speedy recovery, and hopefully, he’ll grace the Coachella stage again in the future.
