I enjoy eating hot dogs, considering them one of my favorite foods while emphasizing moderation. However, I often face a dilemma when buying hot dogs and buns – the packaging seems to result in an imbalance, leaving either extra buns or hot dogs. To address this issue, Heinz has launched a petition to advocate for equal distribution of dogs and buns in packaging.

Heinz has initiated “The Heinz Hot Dog Pact” on, urging bun and hot dog manufacturers to agree upon a consistent quantity of buns and dogs in their products.

The petition questions the discrepancy in pack sizes, with hot dog wieners typically sold in packs of 10 and buns in packs of 8. Heinz aims to rectify this packaging mismatch through the Hot Dog Pact, seeking support to prompt change in the industry.

As of now, the petition has gathered an impressive 4,706 signatures.

“I’ve experienced the frustration of running out of either buns or hot dogs multiple times. Eating a hot dog on regular bread is just not the same,” one supporter shared.

Another signee remarked, “It’s annoying to have to buy more than required. Let’s minimize waste.”

Daniel Gotlib, associate director of brand building and innovation at Kraft Heinz Co., expressed optimism, stating, “We believe it’s time for change. As a famous condiment that has complemented hot dogs for over 150 years, we saw an opportunity to address this issue for hot dog enthusiasts nationwide and urge manufacturers to standardize pack quantities.”
