Liam Hemsworth has been chosen to play the lead role of Geralt of Rivia.
Netflix’s The Witcher, adapted from a book series and well-known video game franchise, has been a major hit for the streaming service. Henry Cavill portrayed the tough monster hunter Geralt of Rivia for three successful seasons with a strong fan base. While a fourth season has been approved, a significant change is on the horizon.
Cavill recently announced on Instagram his departure from the role of Geralt to pursue other projects. “My time as Geralt of Rivia has been full of adventures, but now I must bid farewell and pass on the torch for Season 4,” he stated.
Replacing Cavill in the upcoming season will be actor Liam Hemsworth, famous for his roles in the Hunger Games movies. Cavill expressed respect for the character and excitement to see Hemsworth’s interpretation. “I hand over the role to Liam with admiration for portraying Geralt and eagerness to see his unique portrayal of this complex character,” Cavill shared.
Hemsworth also shared his enthusiasm on Instagram, stating, “I am thrilled to take on the role of Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has done an amazing job as Geralt, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue the White Wolf’s story,” he added.
