Jackman made a joke that Reynolds would be really annoying if he won.
As part of the promotion for the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie in 2024 and for pure fun, actors Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have been engaging in a light-hearted “feud” over the past few months. The two actors have been playfully teasing each other on social media, poking fun at each other’s successes, and just having a good time.

In the latest development of their playful “feud,” a song performed by Ryan Reynolds in the Apple+ movie “Spirited” has been submitted for consideration in the Best Song category at the 2023 Oscars. Jackman took to Instagram to express that while he enjoys the song and the film, he would prefer the song to not be nominated for an award because he believes Reynolds will boast too much if he wins.
Jackman jokingly remarked, “I really, really wanted to send out a positive message at the beginning of the year, but recent events have made that impossible.”

Jackman further added, “Don’t get me wrong, I loved ‘Spirited’. It’s a great movie … I love Will, I love Octavia [Spencer] … the song ‘Good Afternoon’, I laughed the entire way through, it is absolutely brilliant. However, I just heard the Academy have short-listed ‘Good Afternoon’ [for the 2023 Oscars].” He expressed his concern that if Reynolds were nominated, or worse, won, it would make his life unbearable for the coming year.
He concluded by saying, “Please, please, from the bottom of my heart, do not give Ryan Reynolds this validation.”
