Andrew Tate and his brother taken into custody over human trafficking accusations.
This week, Andrew Tate, a controversial figure on social media, and his brother Tristan Tate were detained and escorted from their upscale residence in Bucharest, Romania. Both Tates were implicated in an ongoing investigation involving rape and human trafficking, and they are currently awaiting transfer to a detention facility. Additionally, two other suspects are currently under police detention.
A representative from the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism shared, “The four individuals are believed to have established an organized criminal group aimed at recruiting, sheltering, and exploiting women by coercing them into creating pornographic material for dedicated websites at a fee,” with the BBC.
When reached by The Daily Mirror, a spokesperson for the brothers was unable to provide specific details regarding their current condition but mentioned that the brothers “hold the highest regard for the Romanian authorities and are committed to aiding and cooperating to the fullest extent possible.”

Speculation is rife that Tate’s own actions may have disclosed his location in Romania, potentially making him susceptible to a police raid. Recently, Tate engaged in a Twitter spat with environmental advocate Greta Thunberg by flaunting images of his car collection and downplaying environmental concerns. Thunberg swiftly shut him down with a biting response, sparking a social media trend. In an attempt to salvage his reputation, Tate posted a video of himself enjoying pizza and responding to Thunberg. It was suggested that the pizza box he used was from a local chain exclusive to Romania, aiding authorities in identifying his whereabouts. This claim has not been officially verified.
