Recently, Jimmy Kimmel, the beloved TV host, shared that he tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time this month and was self-isolating. His previous positive test was on May 2, after which he recovered and returned to work. However, the virus struck again.
Kimmel humorously tweeted, “I’m such a positive person, I tested positive AGAIN. I am feeling fine.”
To ensure the show went on, Kimmel picked comedy stars John Mulaney and Andy Samberg to step in as guest hosts for the evening. Originally scheduled as guests to discuss their roles in Disney’s Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers, the duo ended up hosting the show.
“We are grateful for this opportunity. Let us explain why we are hosting tonight. Remember when Jimmy said he didn’t have COVID and then said he did? Well, he was right both times,” Mulaney quipped during the opening monologue.
“That’s the unpredictability of show business, my friend. One moment you’re free, the next you’re rushed into action,” Mulaney continued.

In a unique twist, Mulaney and Samberg alternated between hosting duties and being interviewed as guests since they were initially slated as guests for the show.
Samberg joked, “If you’re not enjoying this, brace yourself, because it’s not going to improve.”
