Views on the Suicide Squad movies have been mixed, but the actors playing the squad members seem to genuinely enjoy their roles. WWE star John Cena, who plays Peacemaker, seems to particularly relish his character. Cena’s new series, ‘Peacemaker,’ connected to the Suicide Squad universe, premieres on HBO Max soon. According to Cena, working on the show has been a positive experience.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Cena stated, “It’s great. It’s the first time I’ve ever taken on a character beyond WWE’s John Cena. So that’s really fun, to be able to explore the character in more depth and not rush through everything in a short movie. It’s a different approach, but it allows me to appreciate the nuances of the character. It’s a change I enjoy.”
Although the first season of Peacemaker consists of eight episodes, the series’ writer and creator James Gunn is optimistic about the potential for another season.

Producer Peter Safran mentioned in another ComicBook.com interview, “We wouldn’t have embarked on a first season unless James had a unique vision that stood out from other shows. A potential second season hinges on James’ ability to bring a fresh perspective that breaks away from the norm. He constantly seeks originality in his work. James had an amazing time working with John and the entire cast and crew, which could pave the way for another season if the new concepts align.”
