Josh Peck received criticism after posting a video on TikTok following the release of “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”
After facing backlash for his delayed response to the accusations in the Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV documentary, Josh Peck has now released a statement.
A new four-part documentary shedding light on the darker side of Nickelodeon aired on ID last Sunday (Mar 17). The series includes testimonies from individuals involved in Nickelodeon shows like iCarly, Victorious, and The Amanda Show, revealing instances of abuse, sexism, racism, and inappropriate behavior.
In the documentary, Drake Bell, famous for his role in Drake & Josh, revealed himself as the underage victim in a 2004 sexual assault case involving former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck. Following Drake’s disclosure, Josh Peck, Drake’s former co-star, faced criticism for not addressing the revelations in Quiet on Set.
On Instagram, Josh stated: “After watching the Quiet On Set documentary and taking time to process it, I reached out to Drake privately. I want to show my support to the brave survivors who shared their stories of mistreatment on Nickelodeon sets publicly.”
He added: “It is crucial to protect children. Sharing these experiences publicly is incredibly difficult, but I hope it assists in the healing process for the victims and their families while bringing about necessary changes within our industry.”
Shortly after the documentary premiered, Josh posted a TikTok video where he lip-synced to a popular audio clip saying: “If I haven’t talked to you since 2023, consider that a clear sign that you are no longer relevant to me.” This led to accusations of insensitivity against Josh and raised concerns about the timing of his post.
However, Drake came to Josh’s defense in a separate TikTok video, stating: “[Josh] reached out to have a conversation with me, offering valuable support during this difficult time. So, I wanted to share this with you all and ask for some understanding towards him.”
