Last week, Klondike, the ice cream maker, announced that they will be discontinuing the Choco Taco, one of their popular ice cream novelties, after 40 years. The decision was made because Klondike has faced difficulties in providing their entire range of products to sellers and consumers worldwide. In an effort to cut costs and focus on their more popular items, they had to let go of the Choco Taco.
This news triggered a wave of sadness on social media, with users on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok sharing their fond memories of the Choco Taco and expressing their disappointment over its discontinuation. However, Klondike has given us a glimmer of hope in response to the massive public reaction. While the discontinuation is still happening, it may not be permanent.
“We know this is disappointing,” tweeted Klondike. “We’ve heard our fans, and we’re hoping to bring this favorite treat back to ice cream trucks in the coming years!”

“We knew the Choco Taco was a fan favorite, and the decision to discontinue the product was a tough one to make,” said a Klondike spokesperson to TODAY Food. “The overwhelming support for Choco Taco has made us reconsider our long-term plans. The team is working on a plan to bring it back, but it may take some time. There’s no specific timeline for the return of the Choco Taco at the moment.”
