Many Western grocery stores are currently facing a cream cheese shortage, which is distressing for bagel and cheesecake enthusiasts. The shortage is attributed to the pandemic and supply chain disruptions. With more people baking at home, Kraft, the company behind Philadelphia Cream Cheese, had to increase production. However, challenges in the supply chain have made it difficult to keep shelves adequately stocked.
Basak Oguz, the marketing director of Philadelphia, mentioned to CNN Business that significant investments are being made in Philadelphia cream cheese. Due to the supply chain issues, production of some products has been paused to focus on meeting the demand for their popular items.
Kraft is using its cream cheese shortage as a marketing opportunity — and will pay you $20 not to make cheesecake for Christmas. https://t.co/NEsgi4Mk0W

As a gesture of goodwill and for promotional purposes, Kraft has introduced a way to compensate those unable to enjoy cheesecake this holiday season. On December 17 and 18, Kraft will launch a special website where up to 18,000 individuals can claim a free dessert of their choice. The dessert can be from any brand and any type, as long as it costs $20 or less. Participants can then submit their receipt to Kraft after Christmas, and they will be reimbursed the full amount. This initiative allows individuals to indulge in a different dessert on Kraft’s generosity if they can’t make cheesecake during Christmas.
