Once again, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is set to make its way through the streets of New York City, featuring floats, live music, and the iconic character balloons. These balloons, depicting beloved characters, are a major attraction, inflated to massive sizes and drifting through the city. If you’re a fan of these balloons, you have a unique opportunity this year.
Macy’s is inviting guests to witness the initial inflation of the parade character balloons. Attendees will get a sneak peek at the new balloons for this year and witness the transformation from deflated latex into giant whimsical figures. To ensure everyone’s safety amidst the ongoing pandemic, certain guidelines will be in place. All attendees must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination. Unvaccinated children are allowed but must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult. Wearing masks is mandatory, and maintaining social distance is encouraged.
The balloon inflation event will take place at 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue in the Upper West Side from noon to 6:00 PM Eastern Time today. Some of the new balloons featured in this year’s parade include Grogu (Baby Yoda), Ada Twist from the Netflix series “Ada Twist, Scientist,” and Pokémon characters Pikachu and Eevee in a PokéBall sled.
