Marvel Drops Titles for Upcoming MCU Films

Someone told me once that superheroes are the modern equivalent of the great Greek myths. Y’know, Hercules, Zeus, Hades, and all that jazz. It’s an apt comparison; both Greek myths and superhero stories have massive pantheons of heroes and villains, a seemingly infinite wellspring of stories, and they’ve both been repeatedly reimagined to heck and back. Makes you wonder if, in a few hundred years or so, Marvel’s MCU films will be regarded in the same way as the labors of Hercules. They’ll certainly have no shortage of stuff to speculate on.

Today, Marvel Studios dropped a bevy of new titles for upcoming MCU films and projects, adding even more to an already lengthy list of stuff in the pipeline. The three new movies include Captain Marvel 2, which will feature the return of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, better known as Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel will also appear in The Marvels on November 11, 2022, alongside Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, fresh off of Wandavision, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel, who’s due for her own series on Disney+ later this year. Finally, we have a name for the much anticipated sequel to Black Panther: the follow-up film will be titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and is slated for July 8, 2022. The question of how they’ll handle this film after the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman is still very much in the air, but it’s a safe bet that whatever they do will draw scores of curious viewers.

Aside from those new films, we’ve got the following laundry list of films and projects coming up over the next couple of years:

    • Black Widow: July 9, 2021
    • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: Septermber 3, 2021
    • Eternals: November 5, 2021
    • Spider-Man: No Way Home: December 17, 2021
    • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: March 25, 2022
    • Thor: Love and Thunder: May 6, 2022
    • Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: February 17, 2023
    • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: May 5, 2023
    • Fantastic Four: TBD
