After the sad loss of Alex Trebek, the iconic host of ‘Jeopardy!’ last year, Sony Pictures Television has been trying out various guest hosts to find a permanent replacement. Recently, LeVar Burton and Savannah Guthrie have taken their turns behind the podium. However, one candidate stands out among the rest – Mike Richards. If you’re wondering who he is, Richards is the executive producer of ‘Jeopardy!’ and has experience hosting shows like ‘Beauty And The Geek’, ‘The Pyramid’, and ‘Divided’, in addition to producing programs such as ‘Let’s Make A Deal’, ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’, and ‘The Price is Right’. Though he briefly served as a guest host on ‘Jeopardy!’, some critics likened his performance to that of a substitute teacher.
Sony Pictures representatives have mentioned that while Richards is a strong contender for Trebek’s replacement, they are considering other candidates as well. Despite the competition, Richards appears to be the front runner and is currently in advanced negotiations with the network.

Some ‘Jeopardy!’ fans on Twitter have voiced concerns about Richards’ candidacy, pointing out that as the executive producer, his selection as host could be seen as self-awarding the position.
Commenting on the situation, former ‘Colbert Report’ writer Frank Lesser humorously noted, “This guy might be the perfect pick because he’s already got everyone responding ‘Who is Mike Richards?'”
