The latest movie by Sony Pictures within their Spider-Man universe, Morbius, featuring Jared Leto as the main character, has not received a very positive reception. The film currently holds a low 16% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score slightly better at 70%. Despite the mixed reviews, the movie has gained popularity as a “irony movie,” with social media users creating humorous hashtags like #MorbiusSweep and #TheSummerOfMobius.
Despite the criticism, director Daniel Espinosa remains satisfied with the outcome of the film. In an interview with Insider, Espinosa shared his perspective, saying, “When I made my first film, a small project called Babylon Disease, I recall a moment on the subway where a person criticized a scene in my movie. This experience highlighted the public nature of creating art. Though I am self-critical, I take pride in my work and strive for improvement.”
