I used to enjoy Mountain Dew in my younger days when I could handle lots of caffeine, but now I like to see the fun new flavors they bring out and the discussions that follow. Every Dew flavor has its fans and critics, and next week, they are introducing a new flavor that doesn’t seem to have excited many people based on initial reactions on Twitter.
Starting on August 31, you can go to Mountain Dew’s online store and purchase cans of their new Flamin’ Hot flavor. Yes, you read that right: they are selling a spicy soda, possibly inspired by the zesty taste of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Both Mountain Dew and Cheetos are under PepsiCo, so the crossover isn’t a surprise. Though, I must say, a cheese-flavored Mountain Dew might have been more expected.
Flamin’ Hot Mountain Dew is a combination of words many of us didn’t anticipate in 2021, but here we are. https://t.co/xPHHdjhE1R pic.twitter.com/VsIwLCaFUc

“As a brand, DEW has a history of trying new flavors that our fans enjoy. We had them in mind when we created the FLAMIN’ HOT beverage,” said Matt Nielsten, senior marketing director at PepsiCo, in a press release. “This beverage is one of our boldest creations yet, and we look forward to DEW Nation trying the unique mix of spicy and classic sweet citrus flavors of MTN DEW.”
Along with the drink launch, Mountain Dew is collaborating with clothing brand Broken Promises to release a range of Flamin’ Hot-inspired clothes, including shirts, pants, and hoodies. These clothes will be available early to Broken Promises subscribers on September 3, followed by a general release the next day. It might be worth getting a shirt just to say you witnessed this… intriguing experiment.
