Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok Lead the Race for Game of the Year.
As 2022 draws to a close and December looms near, so does the annual award show, the 2022 Game Awards. This event recognizes excellence in the video game industry, showcasing major releases, ongoing success stories, performers, eSports athletes, and content creators.
This week marked the reveal of the nominations for the awards, with public voting now open on the event’s official website. The top contenders for the prestigious Game of the Year award are FromSoftware’s Elden Ring and the recently launched God of War Ragnarok, the sequel to 2018’s God of War. The other nominees in this category include A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon: Forbidden West, Stray, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Noteworthy is the introduction of a new award category: Best Adaptation. This category aims to honor exceptional creative work that faithfully adapts a video game to another entertainment medium. Nominees for this award include Arcane: League of Legends, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, The Cuphead Show, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, and Uncharted.
