Overwatch takes inspiration from Fortnite.
With the rise of online gaming, developers are now partnering with various sectors of the entertainment industry. This collaboration trend has seen online games featuring special promotions with popular shows, movies, and games. Fortnite has notably led the pack with its numerous crossovers.
Activision Blizzard recently announced that Overwatch 2 will be joining in on the crossover promotions. In the upcoming period from March 7 to April 6, players will have the opportunity to obtain a unique outfit for the character Doomfist inspired by the well-known manga and anime series One Punch Man. This outfit outfits Doomfist in attire similar to One Punch Man’s main character, Saitama, including red gloves, a yellow suit, and a white cape.
Jon Spector, the commercial lead and VP of Overwatch 2, addressed the potential for future crossover skins in an interview with ComicBook.com. “This is an opportunity for us to learn and understand ‘How much do players love this?” Spector remarked. “We’re not currently planning another collaboration on the scale of Season 4. However, we are actively exploring various possibilities that we are eager to potentially introduce. So, we’ll need to assess the reception of this initial crossover before moving forward with others.”

“We are still in the discovery phase and are open to experimentation. Our aim is to gauge the success of current initiatives before moving forward. Personally, I am thrilled about the possibilities this presents and would love to offer such collaborations more frequently. Yet, we understand the importance of not overwhelming players with excessive content updates. There’s a fine balance to strike,” added Spector.
