In 2014, Microsoft revealed the development of Scalebound, a promising action game in collaboration with PlatinumGames, known for titles like Bayonetta and Astral Chain. Unfortunately, after the initial announcement, the game’s progress halted until its cancellation in 2017.
During a recent interview with IGN Japan, Platinum CEO Atsushi Inaba and renowned director Hideki Kamiya expressed their disappointment at not being able to complete the game. They mentioned that, given the chance and Microsoft’s approval, they would be eager to resume the project.
“Sometimes in interviews, developers might express a generic interest in revisiting a project, but for us, it’s different,” Inaba stated. “Both Kamiya and I genuinely want to work on Scalebound again. We hope to have a discussion with Microsoft about it.”

“We had made significant progress in development, and it would be a waste for Microsoft to abandon it without any action,” Kamiya emphasized before making a direct appeal to Xbox Head Phil Spencer by saying “Phil! Phil! Let’s do it together!”
As of now, Microsoft has not publicly responded to Platinum’s request.
