The United States is on the right track in the battle against the coronavirus. Vaccinations are up, cases are down, and some states are starting to loosen their restrictions. However, many US adults have become hesitant about getting vaccinated, whether it be due to fears of potential side effects or philosophical complications. In an effort to change a few minds, Global Citizen put on “Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World.”

Vax Live is a massive concert event that will be airing this Saturday at 8:00 PM Eastern time on ABC, CBS, YouTube and the iHeartMedia broadcast radio stations, as well as on Fox at 11:00 PM. The event features musical performances by J Balvin, Foo Fighters, Jennifer Lopez, and more, as well as celebrity appearances by Ben Affleck, Jimmy Kimmel, Olivia Munn, David Letterman, Chrissy Teigen, and even President Joe Biden. One of the campaign chairs for the event is none other than Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, who took the opportunity to speak about the importance of vaccination in such a tumultuous time.

“You’ve spent the last year battling courageously and selflessly to protect us all,” Harry said. “You’ve served and sacrificed, put yourselves in harm’s way and acted with bravery knowing the cost. We owe you an incredible debt of gratitude.”

“The vaccine must be distributed to everyone, everywhere,” he continued. “We cannot rest or truly recover until there is fair distribution to every corner of the world.”

Harry also addressed the stream of misinformation that has followed the development of the vaccines, and the importance of educating yourself properly. “We must tackle each of these issues head on: vaccine equity and misinformation. If vaccine distribution moved as quickly as misinformation, just imagine how many lives could be saved.”
