This morning, members of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club convened at Gobbler’s Knob amidst the press, and Phil emerged from his burrow along with the “Groundhogeese” scroll containing his prediction. Phil’s forecast indicated seeing his shadow, proclaiming that winter will extend for another six weeks.
As per Groundhog Day tradition, spotting his shadow signifies a prolonged winter. On the other hand, if Phil exits without a shadow, an early spring is anticipated.

Phil’s current streak spans three years of projecting prolonged winters, forecasting similarly in 2022 and 2021. Staten Island Chuck, another notable American groundhog from New York City, disagrees with Phil’s forecast, suggesting an imminent arrival of spring.
