At the Consumer Electronics Show in January, the focus was on pandemic safety. Various companies introduced hands-free devices, disinfecting tools, and smart tech-powered face masks. Among these, Project Hazel by Razer stood out. Razer, known for its flashy RGB lighting on gaming PC peripherals, showcased Project Hazel, a smart mask with similar lighting. Initially viewed as quirky, Razer has now confirmed that Project Hazel will be brought to life.
Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan stated to Yahoo Finance, “We are going to proceed in making it a reality and ship the smart mask.” Despite vaccination efforts, the need for masks remains due to continued risk and global vaccination challenges, necessitating caution, especially for travelers.

“Project Hazel is going to be a reality,” Tan affirmed, emphasizing the sustainability of the mask. The mask will include N95-grade filtration, a rechargeable ventilation system, a transparent panel for lip reading, and a voice amplifier for enhanced communication. Razer aims to address the prolonged mask-wearing reality with this innovative creation.
