Following the enactment of a controversial anti-abortion law in Texas, which prohibits abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, Reddit has taken action against a community known as “bounty hunters.” These individuals have been targeting women seeking abortions by filing civil suits under the new law that allows private citizens to enforce it.
This initiative led to the creation of a subreddit called r/TXBountyHunters, where members shared tips on identifying and reporting those who violated the law. However, Reddit has since banned this subreddit due to policy violations related to harassment. The group’s page now displays a message indicating its removal from the platform.

Similar to Reddit’s action, other platforms have also taken steps to combat such activities. For instance, GoDaddy terminated a tip site established by the anti-abortion group Texas Right to Life for submitting anonymous tips related to abortions. This move prompted the group to switch to Epik hosting, which also removed them. Currently, the site remains offline without a new hosting provider.
