Release Date Set for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

This morning, The Pokemon Company released a short new trailer for newest upcoming entry in the mainline Pokemon video game series, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This game was originally announced back in February, where we received a few brief shots of gameplay footage and a confirmation of a 2022 release date. Today, we got confirmation that they’ve stuck to that promise.

The new trailer confirmed that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be releasing on November 18, 2022, just in time for the holiday shopping season. It’s sure to be another big seller for the Nintendo Switch this year, especially if it can be bundled with Switch console sales.

So what else did the new trailer show us? We got some in-game footage of the three new starter Pokemon, as well as some gameplay of the player trainer traveling the new region to catch Pokemon new and old, as well as get into Pokemon battles. The new game seems to have an increased emphasis on multiplayer functionality, allowing multiple players to play in the same instance of the game and travel around concurrently. We also got a glimpse of the new mascot legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon, as well as, surprisingly, the version-exclusive Pokemon Professors.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022. Pre-orders for both digital and physical versions are open now at most major retailers.
