After the tragic Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012, where 20 kids and 6 educators were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, Alex Jones, host of the internet show InfoWars, claimed the incident was “staged” and “a hoax.” As a result, families of the victims filed a lawsuit against Jones for defamation and harassment.
Recently, following multiple legal setbacks and failures to appear in court, Jones proposed a settlement of $120,000 per person to the families affected and an FBI agent involved in the case, along with a “sincere apology for any distress caused by his statements.”
However, the families and the FBI agent promptly turned down the offer, labeling it as “an obvious and desperate ploy by Alex Jones to avoid testifying under oath regarding his dishonest, profit-motivated attacks on the plaintiffs.”
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones lost a defamation lawsuit brought by eight Sandy Hook families for claiming the tragedy was “staged.”
The families have now rebuffed Jones’ proposal to settle before a trial to ascertain damages, as evidenced by court documents. https://t.co/a50FSU6vEM

“For me, it was always a matter of principle rather than money,” expressed Neil Heslin, the father of one of the victims, to the Connecticut Post. “I’m not surprised Jones wanted to settle before the trial, but I am prepared to go to court to confront him. I will present my case entirely.” He further mentioned that Jones’ apology “holds no value for me.”
The trials are scheduled to commence in April to determine the compensation owed by Jones to the impacted families. Moreover, Jones faces penalties for failing to attend previous depositions.
