Savannah Chrisley Shares Heartbreaking Updates On Mom and Dad In Prison

Late last year, it was shockingly revealed that Chrisley Knows Best stars Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley would be heading to prison. This was after the couple had been reportedly found guilty in June of last year for (according to a report from CNN) “conspiracy to defraud banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans” and “several tax crimes including attempting to defraud the Internal Revenue Service.”

At the time of their sentencing, Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and Julie was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Recently, their daughter Savannah Chrisley shared a heartbreaking update on Todd and Julie.

Before delving into what Savannah said, let’s first review when Todd and Julie reported to prison- and where they are serving their time.

According to a report from CBS News, Todd is currently serving his prison sentence at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in the state of Florida. On the other hand, Julie is serving her prison sentence at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. The pair reported to their respective prisons on January 17th of this year.

On a November 30th episode of their podcast, Chrisley Confessions, Julie detailed the following their sentencing: “Age is just a number, and since we don’t know our death date, we have to live every day as if it’s our last.”

“Yesterday doesn’t matter,” Todd added for his part. “Today is what we have. Tomorrow belongs to God because we’re not promised tomorrow. What God calls us through, he will walk us through.”

In another episode of their January podcast, Julie noted, “There is that possibility of my husband and I being separated. But there’s a difference between my husband and I being separated for a period of time and having to say goodbye forever. … It almost makes me feel ashamed that I’m even worried. … I think it puts things into perspective because we all think our hard is the hardest thing.”

So, what did Savannah have to share about her parents behind bars?

Recently, on an episode of her podcast Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley, Savannah opened up about seeing her parents for the first time in prison- and it was heartbreaking to hear the details she shared.

Savannah detailed how Todds’ appearance has changed, as he now has grey hair, noting, “I will say it’s really weird seeing him with gray hair. Like, really weird. He’s definitely used some color over the years, and now see him with gray hair. I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’”

She did have some uplifting words, though, stating, “I never felt the presence of Jesus more than I have in that visiting room. Even visiting my dad, like, I know I have so much hope and so much restored strength that I’m like, ‘This isn’t the end.’”

Savannah added that, “I know that they’re going through what they’re going through for us to make a difference, for us to make a change. Because whether this appeal works or not, they’re still coming out with a story.”

Savannah then shared an update on Julie that was truly heartbreaking.

When talking about Julie, Savannah explained how bad the conditions are where Julie is serving her time, noting there is not even air conditioning for the inmates.

“My mom’s in a facility that has no air, but yet, there are service dogs for the prison that are in a heated and cooled building because it’s inhumane for them not to have air,” Savannah explained.

Savannah went on to add, “I read an executive order that Biden signed that said all federal inmates must be housed in environmentally friendly facilities. And I’m like, ‘OK, well, this is completely opposite of that.”

So where does this leave things?

As Savannah mentioned, it has been reported that her parents are trying to appeal the decision that put them behind bars in the first place. We are hopeful that everything will work out for this family, as the situation is sad all around. Our thoughts remain with the Chrisley family during this hard time for all of them.
