Snapchat, a popular social media platform that has traditionally been exclusive to mobile devices since its inception in 2011, is now expanding to desktops. While other major social platforms have both mobile and desktop versions, Snapchat has catered to a younger audience more inclined towards mobile usage. However, this is about to change.
Recently, Snap announced the upcoming release of “Snapchat for Web,” which will enable users to engage in video calls and messaging directly from their desktops using their Snapchat profiles. The web application will primarily focus on messaging and communication, initially lacking full integration with Snapchat Stories for post sharing. Additional features such as the ability to utilize Lenses during video calls will be introduced post-launch.

Initially, this feature will be limited to regular users in Australia and New Zealand, along with premium Snapchat+ users in the US, UK, and Canada. “Snapchat for Web” will be compatible only with Google Chrome at launch, with plans to extend support to other browsers in the future.
