Amazon has commissioned TV series based on the expanded Spider-Man universe.
Sony Pictures has taken on a more prominent role in overseeing the Spider-Man franchise, breaking away from Disney and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This change has led to Sony focusing on creating additional films within the expanded universe, such as the Venom movies and Morbius. With their latest agreement, Sony is set to explore a wider range of Spider-Man characters through a series of spin-off projects.
Sony has joined forces with Amazon and MGM to develop a series of spin-off TV shows set in the expanded Spider-Man world. These new series will be broadcast on MGM+ and streamed on Amazon Prime Video. While specifics about the spin-offs are still under wraps, the initial series announced by Sony is “Silk: Spider Society.”

Silk, a character from the Spider-Man comic universe created in 2014, is Cindy Moon, a Korean American teenager who gains spider-like abilities from the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. She takes on the superhero persona of Silk. The new series, “Silk: Spider Society,” is in development under the supervision of Angela Kang, known for “The Walking Dead,” and Amy Pascal, along with the producers of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Lord and Miller have mentioned that the show will follow Cindy Moon’s journey as she breaks free from captivity and embarks on a quest to locate her family while evolving into the superhero Silk.
There is no confirmed release date for the series yet.
