In the past, there were characters that seemed unlikely to join the roster of characters in Super Smash Bros.. Characters like Ridley, Banjo, and Minecraft Steve overcame these odds and were included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch. The one character missing was Sora from Kingdom Hearts, whose association with Disney posed challenges for inclusion. However, the developers persisted, and Sora has now been announced as the final character.
During the recent Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character presentation by director Masahiro Sakurai, Sora was revealed as the last character in the second Fighter’s Pass DLC. Fans have long expressed their desire to see Sora in the game since the days of Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS. Despite winning the Smash character ballot, legal issues prevented Sora’s inclusion earlier. Nintendo worked through these challenges to finally secure him as a character, even though most of his Disney-related elements had to be omitted.

Unlike the other DLC characters, Sora’s moveset is simple and centered around Keyblade attacks and some magic, as per Sakurai. They intentionally designed Sora to be an easy-to-understand character. Additionally, he features various costumes from the Kingdom Hearts series, along with skins representing his Drive Forms and the Timeless River from Kingdom Hearts 2.
The release date for Sora’s DLC pack is set for October 18. The pack includes the Hollow Bastion stage, 9 music tracks from Kingdom Hearts, and a bonus track for players with Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory save data on their Switch.
