**Title:** ‘Space Jam’ to Get Complimentary Video Game Tie-In
Xbox conducted a competition last December to gather ideas from fans on creating an ideal tie-in game for the upcoming “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” Numerous concepts were proposed, including fighting games, strategy games, and traditional basketball games. However, the decision was made to opt for a classic approach for the beloved film franchise.
In the upcoming month, Xbox will release “Space Jam: A New Legacy The Game,” an arcade-style sidescrolling beat ’em up game. Players will have the opportunity to play as LeBron James, Bugs Bunny, or Lola Bunny, battling waves of monstrous and mechanical adversaries with the objective of defeating the Goon Squad, the Tune Squad’s rivals. The game offers three-player co-op functionality, enabling players to simultaneously control James, Bugs, and Lola for local multiplayer enjoyment.
The development of “Space Jam: A New Legacy The Game” was managed by Digital Eclipse, a developer acclaimed for their expertise in classic gaming, having worked on projects such as “The Disney Afternoon Collection” and the “Blizzard Arcade Collection.”
The game is set to be an exclusive release for Xbox Games Pass Ultimate on July 1, following which it will be available for free on the Microsoft Store on July 15, coinciding with the premiere of “Space Jam: A New Legacy” in theaters and on HBO Max on July 16. Microsoft will also unveil a series of three “Space Jam” themed Xbox controllers; however, details regarding the availability and pricing of these controllers are yet to be disclosed.
