Yesterday at midnight, tickets became available for the highly anticipated Marvel movie “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. It’s no surprise that there was a massive demand for tickets, leading to numerous ticket websites crashing due to the overwhelming traffic from people trying to secure tickets for the opening day on December 17. AMC theaters have a special treat for those planning to watch the movie.
Prior to the ticket sales launch, AMC had announced that the first 86,000 individuals purchasing tickets to watch “Spider-Man: No Way Home” at an AMC theater would receive a code to claim a complimentary NFT image inspired by the film. These NFTs will be hosted on Wax, known as the world’s first certified carbon-neutral blockchain. There are 100 unique designs available, and if you pre-order your ticket on the AMC website, you’ll get a link to redeem your NFT on December 22. However, you must have an AMC Stubs account to access the code.

Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC, mentioned that both shareholders and customers had shown interest in NFTs related to movies screened at AMC theaters. The connection between demand and NFTs might be debatable, but the sales generated by “Spider-Man” could provide valuable insights if the NFTs indeed boost sales. Given the popularity of Marvel movies, especially featuring Spider-Man, exceeding 86,000 ticket sales would likely occur regardless of the NFT incentive, potentially limiting the sample size for evaluation.
