Pop sensation Taylor Swift turned down an offer from Meghan Markle to feature on her now-defunct podcast called “Archetypes.” The Duchess of Sussex personally contacted Swift but received a lukewarm response. Instead of replying herself, Swift declined the invitation through a representative.
The rejection comes amid the recent demise of the podcast, as Meghan and Prince Harry recently cut ties with Spotify, the platform that hosted the show, just three years into their $20 million deal.
Sources suggest that the split with Spotify was due to insufficient content output by the couple. Despite briefly topping the charts, Spotify executives felt that the podcast did not justify the significant investment.
Moreover, the production process was affected by continuous last-minute change requests from Meghan, who even involved senior Spotify executives in pressuring producers for alterations.

Prince Harry also encountered challenges in developing his own podcast concept, exploring topics like veteran affairs, misinformation, and his unique perspective as a newcomer to American life. He even suggested interviewing figures such as Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Mark Zuckerberg about their childhood traumas, leaving executives perplexed.
The termination of the podcast deal adds financial strains to the couple, who stepped back from their senior royal roles in early 2020. They are now dealing with financial burdens associated with their luxurious Montecito estate and substantial security expenses.
While Swift’s refusal may be viewed as a snub to Meghan Markle, it also underscores the challenges faced by the couple as they navigate the podcasting industry.
