Turner rose to prominence in the 1960s performing with her husband Ike, delivering hits like “Proud Mary” and “River Deep, Mountain High.” In 1978, she bravely divorced Ike, liberating herself from an abusive relationship. She then pursued a successful solo career in the 1980s, earning the title of the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Turner’s dynamic stage presence and powerful voice mesmerized audiences worldwide.

The announcement of her passing was made on her official Instagram page, where fans celebrated her extraordinary talent and zest for life. The post acknowledged her significant impact on millions of fans and her role as an inspiration to future stars.

Turner’s remarkable musical contributions were recognized with numerous accolades, including eight Grammy Awards. In 2021, she was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist, following her first induction with Ike Turner in 1991. The Hall of Fame praised her for breaking barriers and advancing the role of Black women in the music business.

Her longtime manager, Roger Davies, expressed profound admiration for Turner’s resilience, energy, and remarkable talent, highlighting her unshakable self-belief. Actress Viola Davis hailed Turner as a symbol of excellence and fearless embracement of sexuality. Her legacy endures through her profound influence on younger artists like Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Janelle Monae, and Rihanna.
