This Is How You Can Make Most Of Your Dating App

Dating apps have become the most common way of finding a significant other in recent years. They are well designed, accessible, and easy to use. However, not everyone knows how to properly construct a dating profile that would generate more hits or matches. This is where we come into the picture. We rounded up some tips that would help you build a profile that would help you make the most out of your app and optimize your profile.

    The Right Pics

Make sure your profile picture is a current one, but not from a special event. Professional makeup and graduation gowns are not what you wear on a day to day basis. An optimal picture would be a photo of yourself on a good day with a look you can easily recreate should you decide to date the person you matched with.

    Don’t Be Afraid to Crop

When a potential match swipes through different profiles, the last thing they want to see is a picture with multiple people which will force them to guess which of these faces is the one behind the profile. If you need to, cut other people out of the picture you upload. Also, Tinder specifically can connect to your Instagram account, so make sure you enable that option. We all stalk each other online anyway.

    Don’t Say You’re Funny — Be Funny

Everybody says that they are looking for someone with a good sense of humor. On the flip side, everybody usually proudly states that they have a good sense of humor. (But few actually do.) In order to stand out among all those self-proclaimed comedians, don’t mention your sense of humor — demonstrate it with a funny line or two.

    Proofread and Review

When setting up a profile, always make sure the written portion of it is spelled correctly, that the grammar is on point, and that there are no typos involved. There is nothing more frustrating than a profile with poorly written text. They create the impression that the person behind them is not very intelligent or wrote them as an afterthought. When in doubt, ask a friend for some writing advice and have that friend review the profile. Make sure to get their honest opinion about the attractive-yet-realistic impression you’re trying to make.

    No Clichés

Do you enjoy sunsets and long walks on the beach? Are you just looking for a best friend to spend your life with? Congratulations — you are now exactly the same as 90% of the app users. When writing your profile, try to include memorable pieces of information about yourself. Maybe you like zucchini on your pizza. Maybe you have a minor obsession with Rick Astley. Who knows? Oh, and whatever you do, don’t write your astrological sign unless you want to be matched with astro-fans.
