During my teenage years, Tobey Maguire served as my Spider-Man in live-action, as he was the sole portrayal of the character then. Andrew Garfield didn’t quite measure up. Therefore, when a new actor was announced for the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I had mixed feelings. Fortunately, we were introduced to the captivating talent of Tom Holland, who has been a true gem ever since. If anyone deserves Twitter’s full-blast birthday wishes, it’s him.
Today, on June 1, Tom Holland celebrates his 25th birthday. The young actor, born in Kingston upon Thames, United Kingdom in 1996, landed his role as Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, at a mere 19 years old. He has been a cherished part of the MCU for six years. Apart from being a web-slinger, he voiced Ian Lightfoot in Pixar’s Onward and played Gregory Cromwell in the BBC’s Wolf Hall. His acting prowess is such that I wasn’t even aware he was British until a couple of years post his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, showcasing his accent-altering skills.
Twitter has been buzzing with birthday messages for Holland all morning, in celebration of this rising star.
Happy birthday to Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland!

Continuing his presence in the MCU, Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, set to hit theaters in December. Some fans had hoped for a new trailer release in celebration of Holland’s birthday, but alas, that didn’t come to fruition. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of reasons to revel and commemorate this occasion.
