Tom Holland, the famous British actor known for his role as Spider-Man, has disclosed that his involvement in the upcoming Apple TV+ crime thriller “The Crowded Room” caused a “bit of a meltdown” in his personal life. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Holland revealed that portraying the character of Danny Sullivan in the series, who faced legal trouble in 1979 following a shooting at Rockefeller Center, made him deeply reflect on his own life.

“I remember experiencing a meltdown at home and thinking, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I need to shave my head to rid myself of this character,’” Holland expressed. The show is based on the real-life exploits of Billy Milligan, who was diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder. Holland described “The Crowded Room” as a narrative that delves into the complexities of the human mind and how individuals cope with trauma.
In the interview, Holland disclosed that he has been sober for one year and four months, attributing part of his journey to working on the series. “Learning about mental health and its impact, and engaging with psychiatrists about Danny and Billy’s challenges, has been incredibly enlightening for me personally,” he stated. Holland aspires that the audience of the show will develop a greater sense of empathy and understanding towards individuals dealing with mental health issues and gain insight into the power of mental health and the resilience it enables us to exhibit.
