Tubi’s “Interface Interruption” ad stirred up a frenzy among Super Bowl viewers.

Aside from the game itself, one of the major attractions of the annual Super Bowl is the commercials. Companies go all out to create the most outlandish and memorable commercials to leave a lasting impression on viewers. One such ad was particularly cunning in its approach, and it definitely grabbed attention.

During a commercial break, just as the Super Bowl hosts seemed to be adding some extra commentary, a smart TV interface suddenly popped up at the bottom of the screen, switching the broadcast to the streaming service Tubi and playing the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Tubi’s clever scheme made it seem like someone had hijacked the feed, causing a moment of panic, before revealing their logo and swiftly returning to the regular program without missing a beat.

While this ad succeeded in raising awareness about Tubi, it didn’t sit well with some viewers. Numerous individuals watching the game with friends and family took to social media platforms to share their reactions, recounting how everyone began frantically searching for the remote to restore the game feed.

“My whole family started accusing each other of sitting on the remote,” mentioned YouTube user LarkspurCreates in response to Tubi’s ad. “My dad blamed my brother, even though he was the one holding the remote. We all expressed our dislike for Tubi after that. I’m still laughing about it.”

“That Tubi commercial nearly caused a fight between me and my husband,” said professional softball player Haley Cruse Mitchell on Twitter.
